Great Turnout for the Tigers

Good morning Tiger fans,

This weekend was a huge step for the club team. We held our first Open House at Centennial Sportsplex in Nashville and the turn out exceeded expectations! 20-25 players from across the state came out and showed their support and interest in college hockey. Players ranged from current college students and incoming freshman to high school players. We even had an 11 year old future Canadian middle school prep student join us for both ice sessions! Remember the name Okabe, because this amazing young hockey player WILL be in the NHL some day! I was very impressed by the talent from every player and am very excited for them to consider the University of Memphis when the time comes.

As a result of the event, we have extended offers to two players (one forward, one goalie) for the upcoming season. The deadline for admissions applications is this Friday and we hope we can get all of their paper work organized and submitted by then!

I want to thank each and every player and parent that attend this event and appreciate any support! I also want to thank our current players. Each represented the team as well as the school very well and it is clear that word is spreading quickly that will are a team that look to be competitive as well as successful.

What's next for the ice tigers?

Strength and conditioning training. We will be hitting the pavement for the next several months in preparation for the season. We are at a great disadvantage without the access to an ice rink within a 200 mile radius. So, we will be in the gym and on the track building endurance and stamina until training camp in late August.

Schedule and Roster...

Be on the lookout throughout the next few days for the release of the official roster AND 2011-2012 schedule!!!

Go Tigers!!!

Head Coach
